Hapuna beach trip

The Intensive English Program (IEP) students visited Hapuna Beach - one of the most beautiful beaches in the U.S. They enjoyed swimming, surfing, and snorkeling all day. The IEP students say that the weekend trips are one of the best things about our program. I hope you can join us soon! ^_^

Farmers market in Hilo Hawaii

Aloha! ^_^ Today, I would like to introduce the Farmers market in downtown Hilo. International students can buy many kinds of fresh vegetables at good price. There are papayas, mangos, eggplants, zucchinis, and many more. I usually go to the farmers market every Saturday, and stop at Bear's cafe in down town for breakfast. If you have any questions about Hawaii Community College Intensive English Program, please let me know anytime. ^_^

Aloha and welcome!

Aloha Everyone!
Welcome to Hawaii Community College IEP's own blog! My name is Sherri Fujita and I am the coordinator of the IEP. I have a Japanese last name because my husband is Japanese. We met while I was teaching English in Japan.

I lived in Tokyo for almost 14 years! Four years ago, my husband and 2 children and I moved to live in Hawaii. I love living in Hawaii and I especially love living on the Big Island. I think this is a wonderful place to live. When I wake up in the morning, I can see beautiful palm trees from my window. On my way to work I often see a big rainbow. This morning I could see Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa with snow on the top! But in Hilo, I could wear summer clothes.

I have a question for you! Why do you love Hawaii? I would like to hear your thoughts. Please write a comment and tell me what you love about Hawaii. I want to hear from you!

With warmest aloha
Sherri
