Facebook and Twitter

Aloha from Hilo, Hawaii! It's a fine day today! ^_^ I think Spring has come finally. Yes, Hawaii has 4 seasons. Of course we can swim all year, but it rains sometimes it's a little chilly.

Today, I would like to announce that the IEP joined Facebook and Twitter. Both social network sites are so useful to share information with not only the IEP students but also students who already graduated from the IEP, and students who are interested in studying in the IEP (maybe like you or your friends?). If you visit our facebook, you may see a lot of photos from our sessions. If you joined Twitter, you may see our new updated information and may see "what the IEP is doing now".

Please visit the IEP on Facebook and Twitter! We are looking forward to seeing you there! ^_^

One more thing... an IEP student, Maiko, started her own blog(Japanese)! She tells about her student life in Hilo. Now she is learning how to drive in Hawaii, and how to get a used car. She wants to find out where she can learn Hula. Maiko is also going to study Hawaiian Lifestyles at Hawaii Community College from Fall 2009! Please visit her blog and see the real life of an international student!

Student who graduated from the IEP

Aloha from Hilo, Hawaii!

Today, let me introduce a student who graduated from the Intensive English Program.

Marco – uses his English skill for his career
After I graduated from the IEP, I got 2 jobs: in a technical firm and a church.
In the technical firm, I do Tool Management Stuff and programming. I use my English skill to understand operation manuals for machines, and for other tasks. In the church, I use my English to listen to podcast Church Messages from all over the world. Both of these jobs require my English skill, so my IEP experience works very well for my career.

Studying in the IEP was a really great time in my life. People are friendly, and the IEP teachers are good. I loved the location of the classrooms where are on the university campus, and I loved the cheerful classrooms. The town of Hilo is absolutely beautiful. And, yes, Hawaii! I wish I could go back!

The IEP's mascot boy

Aloha from Hilo, Hawaii!

It's a very nice day in Hilo.. but a little chill. If you are planning to travel Hawaii in winter time (December to February), it's better to bring some long sleeve shirts.

Here is the IEP's mascot boy, Bohdi. He comes along with his owner' Steven who is the IEP assistant coordinator.
Bohdi is not only the mascot but also he is a very good counselor for the IEP students. He is very friendly, and has a big heart. If you come to Hilo, please visit the IEP office! ^_^
